Upholding Tradition, Embracing Brotherhood

About Lodge of Chivalry

Established on 14 October 1937, the Lodge of Chivalry No. 5685 has been a steadfast presence in Southampton’s Masonic community for over 85 years. Consecrated as a daughter lodge of Wessex Lodge No. 5297, our foundation was built on the principles of honour, integrity, and fellowship. Since our inception, we’ve cultivated a warm and fraternal relationship with our founding lodge, reflecting the enduring bonds that Freemasonry fosters.

Our lodge convenes at the Albion Place Masonic Centre in Southampton, where members gather to engage in meaningful rituals, charitable endeavours, and the pursuit of personal growth. We are proud to be part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, contributing to the rich tapestry of Freemasonry in the region.

Understanding Freemasonry

A Journey of Self-Discovery and Service

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed fraternal organisations, with roots tracing back to the early 18th century. It is a society that brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds, united by shared values and a commitment to moral and spiritual development.

At its core, Freemasonry encourages members to reflect on ethical principles, engage in charitable activities, and strive for personal excellence. Through symbolic rituals and allegorical teachings, Freemasons explore themes of integrity, compassion, and the pursuit of knowledge.
